Mike’s Quality Homes is a licensed and insured residential homebuilder.
Q: Can you explain why the Mike’s Quality Home Process is unique?
A: The simple answer is this: we can provide several options for building your custom home, such as pier or slab on-site construction – from your plans, or from one of ours. In addition, Mike’s offers a unique off-site building process. A process that enables our expert team of builders to construct your entire custom home at our facility, then transport it in one piece to your property. While certain location criteria is necessary for this option to be viable, this turn-key approach provides many benefits. Benefits like cost savings, turnaround time, choice of approved plans, and best of all, bank friendly loan options.
Q: Typically, what will I need from my bank or mortgage company?
A: It varies from client to client, of course, but typically you will need the following: From your bank – A copy of commitment letter with conditions, amount, and expiration date. From your mortgage company – a copy of commitment letter from the lender they intend to use, a copy of homeowner credit report (you will have to request), your debt to income ratio (expenses compared to income per month; FHA: 41% max, bank: 36% or less), the estimated house note (FHA: cannot exceed 29% of homeowner’s monthly income; bank: cannot exceed 23% of homeowner’s monthly income), whether you will be the owner of the property, an estimate of your down payment / closing costs, and whether you can or will be paying for closing costs and down payment.
See our Financing Information section for additional information.
Q: Do you construct your homes differently? What makes a Mike’s home better?
A: A house built by Mike’s Quality Homes is moved whole, not in pieces. Our homes are designed to be moved, therefore, we use more bracing than standard construction. There is no VIN number or axle associated with the home. We build our homes stick by stick. We do not use pre-manufactured or modular parts. We build from the ground up. Just like a quality home is supposed to be built. Our team uses an original set of plans for each and every home. Our homes are inspected and approved by an ICC (International Code Council) inspector. These homes have also been reviewed and stamped approved by an architect. The home is built to the code requirements in the parish where the home is to be delivered and completed. Our homes can be customized and vary in square footage and dimensions. All homes come with a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty.

Q: How will the vinyl siding on these homes hold up in high winds?
A: The vinyl siding we use on our homes has a wind resistance of 220 miles per hour. This rating is claimed by the Vinyl Siding Institute, an independent research firm not connected with any siding manufacturer.
Q: Are there limitations on where you can move these homes?
A: Unfortunately, yes. Due to certain weight, road, and time constraints we are unable to move our homes to some areas. We are unable to move our homes outside of Louisiana. Contact our office if you would like more detailed information about our moving capabilities.
Q: Do you have to own the land on which the house will be built or delivered?
A: Yes. The mortgage will be on the land and the house is considered an improvement to the property
Mike’s Quality Homes started out as Movable Homes by Mike when Mike Hebert, a residential contractor in the area, took over as owner of Movable Homes in 1987. Mike has been building homes since 1980 and was one of the original builders of Movable Homes.
